Barbecue sauce is a personal thing. Some people like it sweet and some people like it savory. For me, it depends on what I’m cooking. I like a sweet sauce for for pork and savory sauce on beef. Chicken, well that’s a different story, it can go either way. My husband has always preferred to make sauce until one fateful day when we tried on of the slow cooker Dr. Pepper pork recipes. It suddenly dawned on me, why don’t we use the syrup from our beloved Soda Stream to flavor the syrup? My sauce has never been the same. I like the Dr. Pete (Pepper) flavor one, it’s sweet with a touch of fruitiness. The cola flavor works well too.
