Last week I was able to stop in at one of the new food trucks coming out of Taber, Alberta, Chef B’s. I don’t have much info on Chef Brian but I can tell you this, he makes a great pulled pork. Chef B’s staff are really friendly, they know their menu and were able to answer questions about their food.
I was flying solo last week, so I only had the chance to try their pulled pork sandwich with cajun slaw and their watermelon and cucumber salad with feta and balsamic vinegar.
The pulled pork sandwich was a generous portion, perfectly juicy (without being messy) on a soft roll. The cajun slaw is the perfect compliment, a little bit of tang with just a touch of spice.
Watermelon and cucumber with feta and balsamic is one of my favorite summer salads, and Chef B has the perfect ratio of flavors! My only grievance is with the watermelon itself. This time of year, they can be a little hit or miss so some of the melon was perfectly sweet, while other bits were slightly flavorless. Despite the unflavored chunks, it was still quite good.
Overall, I really enjoyed my lunch. Well developed flavors and a good value. They definitely hit the mark for their pulled pork and I look forward to seeing what pops up on their menu next. You can find them on Twitter and Facebook.
